    Hello Board Members
I have learned soo much on this forum I hope you can help make a decision. I live in NY and recently went back to college I have a
great desktop system V2 Premier but the last laptop I bought was the worst as far as speed and hdrive space(Sony Vaio 1996)I don't want to waste money again, I really like the HP7000 but after I customize it with 512mhz,60hd 7200,Pent4 3.4 w/HT, upgraded video card, wireless modem, microsoft professional, the price is close to 2300.00, should I just buy the 8000 due out this Wednesday? I'm a moderate user, I like to be on the internet, wordprocessing, financial purposes mostly. I really want a fast machine that will not become outdated within a few years, Thanks.

    hey fellow NYC'er,

Laptops have come a long way since 1996 so you'll be in for a treat as to what they'll offer you in performance! The HP zd7000 is a good notebook that has been popular for sometime now, but the HP zd8000 does look pretty hot, it's one of the first (maybe the 1st) mainstream laptop to include a PCI Express card slot, you can configure with a 256MB ATI X600. To be honest, I don't think there will be any concern of this notebook becoming obsolete in performance for your needs anytime in the next 5-years, and it might actually be more than you need if you're not into gaming too much and would just use it for basic applications. Here's a review from CNet
