Yep, its best buy only special edition model. Only dv6000z is currently offered with the white/silver scheme.

Hmm...might not work. Even though the keyboard might look the same on the outside the keyboard connectors might not match. Its risk but search through the service manuals(or HP Parts site) for both the dv2000 and the dv6000. If the part numbers are the same then most likely it will work.

No. The HP Special Editions have all white LCD covers, surrounding frames for the touchpads, and an all silver glossy coating for the keys. The downside to this MacBook-esque look is that while fingerprints will show up definately a LOT less than vs the regular HPs, that silver coating may rub off eventually, leaving your keyboard look pretty icky =[...

As a Best Buy employee I have seen about 4 of these white Special Editions. HP origionally started the special editions back in the days of the DV1000s. They came with dual headphone jacks, a special color finish on the back, which i believe was more of a dark red versus the typical black/silver. However, they were not really special editions, as I believe we got a TON of them when we were first carrying them. Then they moved to the new DV2/6/9 series... and then changed the whole color scheme to white/silver. Yes, they all use AMD processors, which I personally wish were Core 2 Duos, BUT one nice thing about these Special Editions as well is that they come with the 12 cell battery. Granted, HP's extended battery isn't that great as it raises the back by about an inch unlike some other companies who's extended batteries just stretch out the back, but you still do get what basically is 2x 6 cell batteries ;), and they come at a pretty good price and are pretty well equipped. The one that Best Buy carries now I believe we have on sale for $1099, as someone quoted above.

Hello, new to forum, been reading and learning. Thanks.

I have this white one(dv6233se), purchased a few weeks ago on a BB early bird special during their vista promotion. If you have questions about this SE, I'll do my best to answer them.

After reading the many bloatware threads, some of the stuff I have is differen't and was wondering if anyone could help me with that. In one thread someone listed what they had preloading and installed. Another member suggested what could be safely disabled and/or uninstalled.

I don't want to wipe the drive and start fresh, after norton was removed, some apps disabled via the info from this site, and a few cosmetic tweaks, it runs much more to my liking. If I can free up a little more, that would be nice. I am only listing apps that weren't "shipped with the OS"(according to the startup/software explorer).

    Startup Programs (p=permitted d=disabled)

    Adobe acrobat - P
    AdobeCollabSync.exe - P
    HP Connections - D
HP Health Check Scheduler - P
HP total care advisor - D
HP Quick Play - not yet classified
    hp digital imaging - hp all-in-one series - P
HP Quick Launch Buttons - not yet classified
    HP Wireless Assistant(WiFiMsg.exe) - P
    HP Wireless Assistant(HPWAMain.exe) - P
Java(TM) Platform SE 6 - not yet classified
    soft thinks Launcher - P

Installed (this is a partial list of apps that I'm not sure about)

Activation Assistant for the 2007 MS Office suites
    HP Connections (remove only)
    HP Customer Experience Enhancements
    HP Easy Setup - Core
    HP Easy Setup - Frontend
    HP Help and Support
    HP Total Care Advisor
    HP Update
    HP Wireless Assistant
    HP NetworkAssistant
    My HP Games
    Yahoo Toolbar for IE

The yahoo search toolbar came loaded in the taskbar, but there was an HP software section to remove it, if I can uninstall it completely, without conflicts, I'd like to.

    Thanks in advance.
