Hi all i am new to this forum
i currently own a HP Dv9500 8 years old . And its display seems to rock like an Ipad or macbook type . i was not able to find any new 17 inch Budget laptops with this kind of display Only the newer more expensive laptops IPS panels seem to match its quality.

    Brightview display (1680x1050) Glossy: yes

I am not sure as some claim it is HP Ultra bright view . I am not sure what kind of panel it uses but it looks like an IPS display quality. But it does have very wide viewing angles ( left and right) and top and bottom . Only the top-bottom viewing angles at the extreme angles seems to fade away the colours but that not as bad as TN panels . Overall the panel has a strong yellowish cast to it

Now my question here is :
Can someone tell me if i get the HP elitebook 8740W without dream color , will it be better it surpass my DV 9500? attached are the pics of my DV9500 display. Taken with iphone 6 . And its at this angle which i took

The 1080p screens are a higher resolution and have the same viewing angles ( frome the side and top no wash out)
( I have one on the x360) and its awesome!

Well most Ultrabooks have good display to justify their price . But many 17.3 inch laptops come with crappy display

i currently have another laptop which is a 17.3 inch DELL with 1600x900) display. but its viewing angle -top-botttom is not good a sa slight variation puts off the picture . In dark scenes i get a glow in black areas at the top... if i get a 1080P TN display laptop will all these probelms be solved???
