    Hey,

    I just bought a refurbished Elitebook 2530p that didn't come with a wireless card, so I bought a "Broadcom 4322AGN 802.11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN adapter (Sangria) - For use in Most of World (MOW)". This WLAN card was listed on HP's parts page for the 2530p here. However, when I installed it and connected the antennas, the computer doesn't recognize it at all when booting up. It doesn't even acknowledge the presence of a new device. Any ideas?

    Do you have it turned on? It's a blue touch sensitive 'button' that looks like an antenna. Might try installing the "HP Wireless Assistant" to see if you can turn it on that way too.

    2510P has a setting to enable the expressport/USB in the bios. Presumably the 2530P does too. You'd want that enabled.

    HP have whitelisting active in their bios. On my 2510P using a non HP mini pci-e cards results in it not being recognised, nor registered in XP/Win7. Hotplugging the wifi card in AFTER bios boot fails to detect it. It's bizarre, almost looks like they electrically disable the link to the mini pci-e port, since the ICH8M port appears in Device Manager.

    Can suggest to try this, or otherwise get the HP version of that Broadcom card.

    My touch-sensitive wireless button is red/orange. Nothing happens when I touch it.

    This is crazy.

    The Broadcom 4322 I bought is actually from a used HP machine, it has a sticker on it that says "replace with HP spare". I'll try that link about changing the MAC address of the WLAN card, but it might be a little over my head.

    Also, when people try to use an 'unsupported' card that is not listed in the whitelist, it appears that an error message comes up saying 'unsupported device detected'. I get no such message with this, it simply does not detect it at all. Tried multiple cards, same problem. I have no idea what's going on...

    Perhaps the socket is bad? It looks like it's has two sockets, one for WLAN and one for WWAN. With my 2510p the WLAN isn't detected at all if I put it in the WWAN slot...

    That is my experience as well on a 2510P. No error message if the mini pci-e wifi card is a non HP product. If you had another HP certified card, could put it in, bootup the system, suspend the system, swap in your Broadcomm card, scan for new hardware and it will find it. T

    Using info here I was able to find the following whitelist entries in the bios 2510P based on comparison with a user created HP Whitelist document at http://tiny.cc/whitelistdoc and doing hex searches for 8680 and E414.

    8680 2242 3C10 5B84 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4222&SUBSYS_845B 103C -> An Intel/HP card
    8680 2242 3C10 5B33 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4222&SUBSYS_335B 103C -> AN Intel/HP card
    E414 1143 3C10 6313 PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4311&SUBSYS_1363 103C -> Broadcom/HP 4311GB wifi
    E414 1143 3C57 1063 PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4311&SUBSYS_6310573C -> Some Broadcomm card

    I believe some of the other numbers might be equivalent to a wildcard, since my HP-supplied 4965AGN doesn't exactly match these.

    8680 2942 8680 0011 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4229&SUBSYS_11008086 <- Intel/HP 4965AGN wifi

    If you have a 4311BG wifi, try to change it's sub id using pcitree to 103C. That means it would be a HP product. You'll need to use another machine to do it since the 2530P won't let you see it.

    OR you could start modifying the bios as shown here. Not for the faint hearted.
