I always remove the battery when I'm using the adapter and I'm sick of ending up with my legs full of marks because of the sharp edge. And since apparently there are no battery covers for the dv6700t, I want to buy a non-working battery that I can "ungut" and place it in the battery compartment.

I'm in USA, Oklahoma City area, and I'd pay with Paypal but I'd prefer to buy from someone local.

So why exactly don't you want your regular battery connected inside of the laptop?

Because I read that the constant heat decreases the battery life. I do use the battery on a regular basis but if I'd rather play it safe and remove it if I'm not using it.

So then when the power goes out or something along those lines you'd rather lose your work?

Where did you read that the constant heat decreases battery life? I can't imagine that the heat would decrease the battery that much. I've always kept my battery in the entire time and yeah there is a little wear on it, but nothing terrible. If anything, get 2 batteries and swap them out every so often.

Lithium Ion batteries are designed not to overcharge, so the heat reducing their usable life is negligible. Unlike other batteries with memory effects due to uneven usage or heat, Lithium Ion batteries lose usable charge due to number of recharges and from the date they are manufactured. The older the date on the battery, the lower it will be able to charge.

I read it on the Battery tips thread. My brother used to keep his battery in all the time and after a year, the battery is practically useless. Edit: It's completely useless. It´s also an HP laptop.

I've been using my laptop for a couple years now and the only thing I've done is swap out batteries every so often and I haven't noticed a significant decrease in either. You have to remember that not all batteries will last the same amount and some will go significantly faster than others.

If you really feel like all the hassle is worth a little battery life then go for it, but in my opinion, it's not worth it.
