Hey i'm in a ruff spot. Ive held off getting a gaming laptop since the m15x was put on sale early this year.. hoping to get a nice working m15x in skullcap now most probs with it seem to be fixed i could spend a simple

    $3800 AUD and get a nice 2.5gig 8800mGTX m15x in skullcap silver.

however seeing the new design of the 13inch voodoo Macbookair style notebook makes me wonder question what their 15-17inch notebooks may be like. I know Centrino2 is just around the edge and it will add some new batterystuff with hybrid Sli and Crossfire stuff but im really only interested in a high end brand name (ALienware or Voodoo) and The Longest battery life possible in a gaming system as i want this to age well and from my guess both Voodoo and ALienware are going to be sticking with SR from the sounds of it from the dates Voodoo are going to reveal all.

From what i can gather from the website they will release tech sheets of the hole new line up by the 27th.. and Alienwares next Video cast is the 24th.. ive delayed this purchase alot already (half a year).. should i hold out for voodoos oferings.? will they be in my budjet

Ive always dreamed of getting a gaming laptop since i was a kid watercooling and painting my PC's and alienware and voodoo are the 2 brands ive always been looking at... alienware seems to have gone abit bland with there new notebooks and no longer have the boutique feel of paint jobs etc. however voodoo may still have all the paint job offerings on its new 8800m+ level of performance class notebooks? or mabye even metal/carbonfiber both would be great as long as its brightly painted plastic or nice surface fiber/metal.?

I'm a Australian resident and don't know if voodoo ship here .. and in regard to events they do in Canada i have friends in van cover and would possibly attend some as im going to canada in 2009.

Do u think the voodoo wait is worth while for me... or should i hope on a Alienware and forget about voodoos new stuff ?

    help me decide ^_^

I've been watching the Alienware forums closely, and I gotta say, they're really going down.

People returning m15xs like crazy! It's unbelievable!

I'm also looking to buy a new machine for fall, and my eyes are now set for Voodoo, after seeing the 13" carbon fiber model, I can't wait for the 15.4" gaming carbon fiber model! :D

I'd have to say that if you buy an m15x right now, you'd be taking a chance with the sub-par chassis, and CPU downclocking and stuff like that, on a $3,000 laptop? I'm not doing that!

So I think I'll just wait some more ;)

Yer well now that Voodoo is with HP im sure getting a Voodoo in australia will prob be alot easer .... my main concern is TIME! i want a laptop like within the next 3 weeks..........

so voodoo better get info out fast..

also i have a feeling the 15inch voodoo may just be painted Clevos/HP's pushed to the limit to suport a 8800 or 9800 ey..... i hope not.. but i really do.

in regard to the m15x issues... honestly is think its a combination of

Dell Standards first new alienware to be pushed while dell in charge
Price drop on ALienware (come on guys they used to be ALOT more expensive)
I'm sure ALOT more people got the m15x than any other ALienware due to its quite assessable price point. which explains its interest and complaints.

but yer the same things may have happened to voodoo.? looks like they no longer will offer their painting/badge services on the Envy 133 at least.

these appear to be machines unique to Voodoo; definitely not Clevos.

anyway the general answer would be of course to wait, however you have your 3 week timeline. That said, even if you order an m15x now the thing is taking a minimum of a month to build atm so you're too late for it as well. Might as well wait as you won't be hitting your deadline.

Honestly I think voodoo is a joke. They overcharge for the most basic of parts and charge exorbant amounts for options on a very high base price machine. For $6000 you can get a 7900gtx sli laptop...but it'll have a tatoo!

Honestly, get the m15x (not m17x), get the xps 1730 if you want sli, or get the clevo d901c based laptops (sager 9262, pcmicroworks black hawk, etc...)

yer i guess just that with HP now i asume they would price the same as teh m15x for there sim thing... ahh bugger it im just going to get the m15x silver ill order it this weekend its been 2 long and im sure the voodoos will have less batterylife or a bunch of other possible issues.

I would have to agree that Voodoo Pc's ARE WAY OVER PRICED. I worked witha guy who bought a Voodoo laptop, and besides the paint job it was the same spec as my Toshiba at the time. Ad he paid well over 5k US. Boy was he pissed when my Toshiba played the same games as him. LMAO.

You can expect Voodoo's other new laptops on June 20 (probably 15") and June 27 (probably 17" SLI).
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=259259

Judging by the new 13" Envy and the Omen desktop, you won't be disappointed with the build quality of the new laptops at all. I have a feeling that Voodoo is releasing some truly amazing gaming notebooks.

the Envy 133 looks chiped/misscut and scratched in the close up NBR photos... and thats one for press... soo i don't know about build quality seems very experimental to me.

my main concern is that the 15inch will basically be a m15x clone... maybe even in price. Maye even cheaper than the m15x in Australia if ordered from some new Voodoo/HP international store? due to the retarded conversions the alienware australia store do :(

and please can people stop recommending clevos 2 me this forum is Clevo mad! i need batterylife+style both of which a clevo does not provide.

sigh i waited this long for black matte skullcap m15x and they didnt diver gurrr i may have to wait more <_> if u look in the 15-17inch thread they say the Envy133 will not ship till august and the 15-17inch will be released after that with centrino2... :( thats realistically 4-5 months away

batterylife+style+best performance..... hmm, sounds like a clevo M860tu to me.

I dont see why you dont want a clevo. sure they are not a bling bling laptop, but atleast the chassis doesnt come with its own sound effects ^_^.

if you thing of the above laptop, i will be posting a step by step guide to dissasembling it for painting. then you can make it look like whatever you want.

New news from the manual is that this laptop has a "stealth mode like feature" just like the m15x. a little button and everything for it^_^

With all the M15x issues, why anyone would want one is beyond me. Alienware need a good run down the gaming PC ladder, so they can get back to reality.

My first AW experience will be my last. And not so much as an explanation why my PC was downclocking from them. They are a complete and udder joke.

I agree this forum is pretty Clevo mad. I think you meant you want battery life+style+brand image (bling factor), something the Clevo can't provide, but a $4000 Voodoo or Alienware can.

the brand is important... but so is the battery life...

there is no way the Clevo with a stock 8800mGTX will out battery a M15x with smartbay battery and power saving / intergrated all on is there? unless im missing some thing like a extra 6 cells in the clevo .

the clevo was rated 1.5 by eurocom so its prob what 2.5... give or take..
the m15x can hit 5-6 hours with every thing set up for battery life ... it is reported to get a good 4 hours playing World of Warcraft at playable frame rates with afue power tweaks.

its not even a comparison.. thats why my main interest in the new voodoos is battery life.. however i dont know a 13inch with only 3 hours.. makes me think they will care less for the higher end gaming books batterylifes.
I guess my best bet is if the information is not public its not superior.

@OP: The arguments over price and quality of its machines aside, you simply can not get a Voodoo within three weeks, even if the laptop you were interested became available this afternoon. That's the nature of living with Voodoo (I've owned a Rage and an m860 laptop).

Never having owned one, I can't comment on pricing or quality of AW machines, but would guess that a three week delivery isn't much more likely, but would put my money on them in a bet.

I didn't think the sager posted by cdnalsi was ugly at all, not as nice as the m15x but not ugly, but that one Heliosvector, no offence, is one of the ugliest laptops I have seen.

Also I have said it before, and I will say it again, just because everyone is complaining on the forums does not mean the majority of people are having problems, people don't usually come to forums to praise things, they come to complain. People complain about anything that is popular wether there are problems or not.

That being said I have ordered a m15x, I will pass judgment myself, if it is full of problems I will just return it, simple as that. Also he said he would be willing to pay $1000 for looks, most likely exagerating, if you actually compare prices a similary configured M860tu is only a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the m15x.

As to the original question I would say order the alienware and by the time the info on the new voodoos is released it probably won't be shipped yet and you could just cancel if you want it.

the point for my post that stated AW and voodoo no longer use clevo did not have any relation to the topic. I reinforced my point afterwards by saying how every boutique brand in the world use clevo or used to use clevo. the only reason they are making their own is because they are boutique brands. they want a system to truly call their own. voodoo is the only one that has done it right so far. so my point no way contradicts itself.

oh and jordon i agree with you. the 9262 is not for looks. it is very ugly, but it was not made for looks. I wasnt particularely fond of that middle photo of cdnalsi's I had to look twice. i thought that it was the 9262 rebranded....... hmm maybe it is.
It was not fair to use that laptop to stand for clevo against the beautiful m15x.
my choice was much more even. The m860tu isnt the greatest looking, but il give it about 12 licks of paint and it will pwn all the others.
