Waiting on Envy 17 3D thread...

Well Here I am clicking like mad. Waiting for a email telling me my Envy is on the way. It says expected to ship on the 5th (yesterday) and nothing yet.

Aaarrgg. I have to leave for 4 days on Monday so if it comes while I am out....yikes!

All I want is a tracking number!!

 

mine is supposed to ship the 11th. never know. my 15 shipped 5 days earlier than previously stated.

 

just bought my Kingston 96GB 100+ V NOW SSD. This one has automatic garbage collection, supposed to be 25 percent more efficient, no TRIM necessary. very excited about putting this in my envy 17 3d.

 

I bought a Momentus 500 hybrid drive for mine.

Still no tracking number.

 

My Ship Date is 11/12, but thinking it will ship out early like my recently-returned-E17 of like 5 days! Got a SSD ready to pop in as well!

interesting reading this morning, its been confirmed the Envy 17 3d will play 3d blu ray discs, as long as the disc supports active shutter lenses. also, the 3d decoding will be done through the CPU, not the GPU.

 

Just got a email telling me my ship date is delayed by 2 weeks!

Now I have to look at my need/wants and decide if I want to keep this thing coming.

 

I kinda am unsettled on this ... does the envy 173d mean that anything and everything seen on the laptop screen produced 3d visual effects, if you use your active shutter glasses? For example, if I insert a normal dvd to watch a movie or a normal dvd to play a game, wil the both of these applications produce 3d visual effects????

 

Great, so unless you had something unusual in your configuration, that probably means a similar email is headed for the rest of us, as well. What was your config?

 

i'm sure we'll all get the shipping delay if its the 17" 120hz screen on backorder.... maybe not. its ok, i don't mind waiting but I will complain and force them to bump my shipping to 2nd day, or maybe whine till i get a $50 or $100 coupon. in the meantime i'll just piddle with my macbook air.

 

no, the shutter glasses will only provide 3d effect when the image is being broadcast stereoscopically (i think that's a word). if there's some software that will render a regular dvd and give it 3d effect that would be great (dollars to donuts its being worked on but doubt it will have as good an effect as a native 3d video).

 

estimate build date for new envy 17 3d right now is Nov 22nd. so yeah, its probably the lcd screen.

 

i take that back, the expected build date for the regular envy 17 is nov. 22nd also, so could be anything.

I could not use the 400 coupon. I had already used a 50 off coupon. So I called to ask about the 400 dollar off one and they said no can do. However I did get 100 off.

Then with the shipping delay I called again and then got the 10% off.

 

Could be just that the coupons overloaded the builders and they couldn't meet the date. My guess is that the early orders with earlier dates will be late, but the later orders probably will be close to right.

 

I initially ordered E17 with the same build by date. Then the $400 coupon for the 3D model AND a full 10 days built sooner, so the choice was easy.

 

my estimated shipping date remains unchanged, still nov. 12th. the moment it changes, i will call hp about it.

All users with estimated ship date Nov 5th got delayed to estimated ship day Nov 19th.

Sorry to say but you guys with estimated Nov 12th prepare to receive a delay email this week with a new ETA after Nov 19th for sure.

 

How to complain to get a 10% off? like say i will cancel the order or sth? i want it to work in one time,haha

 

I just called and politely explained how disappointed I was in the shipping delay.
The rep offered the 10% off right away.

I am so freaking excited, I order my Envy 17 3D on Nov 03, estimated to ship on November 17. I also got the $400 off coupon but if they delay my order I will see if I can get another 10% off... hehehe

I have a question, Is that true that intel i7 quad-core are limited to 8gb ram? (source: intel's website, google it/ bing it)

Can somebody please explain me this? What if later I want to install 2 x 8gb or 2 x 6gb ram ?

 

My shipping date still says Nov. 12th, but I have little faith that that'll hold up. I'm not really one to complain about petty things, but that's really annoying. Why put a laptop up for sale if you can't meet any of the demand? Does anybody anywhere even have one right now? I haven't seen any official reviews either. What gives?

 

hp really does handle criticism well, you don't have to be rude or anything for them to assist you with discounts or whatever if you have a genuine problem with shipping delays or other issues. They really want to keep people's business. When I got my Envy 17 waaaaay back when and decided it was too darn hot, i called HP (with the 21 day return policy). They offered me $100 coupon to keep the notebook (on top of the $400 coupon I had used to acquire it). So, in theory, if you got the $400 coupon off your notebook like me (from $1900 to $1500 customized), then get a 10% off, down to $1350, and maybe a $100 coupon after you receive it and say you are thinking of returning it, you could very well end up with a $1250 Envy 17 3D. By the way, when I was offered the $100 coupon last time I turned it down and returned my 17.

 

oh yea, my shipping date hasn't changed yet either, still nov 12th also. cant wait to play cod black ops in 3d.

 

My ship date on e17 3d is nov 11 tomorrow.. Still has not changed..fingers crossed..will def call hp if it does....

 

I called hp today and asked about my order.( Btw my ship date is 12th also)
and they said it is not delayed and should be ready to ship on 12th. so i hope they know what they are talkin about

 

Yeah, I spoke to HP as well, and she told me my shipping date hasn't changed...but I'm sure she was basically reading the same order status that I've been checking every day.

I suppose if it's delayed I can finagle that 10% discount, but it took me like 3-4 months to decide on the Envy, so I kinda just want my new toy already.

 

the guy at 3d blogs who has an envy 17 3d says that there are some driver issues with COD as of right now, works but has some glitches... bummer.

 

On top of that, from what I've been reading, the PC version of Black Ops is a laggy mess right now (in single and multiple player) so Treyarch has their work cut out for them. Hopefully a patch soon addresses these issues.

I just talked to a HP rep. I tried to get 2 day shipping. She said no I cant change that. The reason I wanted it changed was if it ships on the 19th that puts it out over the thanksgiving week. I probably will not see it till the following week.

If anyone is successful in changing their shipping from standard to 2 day please let us know.

Just called hp.. Good news.. Order is out of production.. Fedex scheduled to pick up today..should have tracking number tonight.. These lappys ship out of china?

 

Damn. I was going to call to change it to 2 day as well. Strange that you can't change the shipping. I might try anyway if I have a chance. If no one else's has shipped yet, looks like I'll get mine well after Thanksgiving.

Nope env 17 3d 8gb ram i7 740 and dual 500gb hdd

 

same specs as yours, except with 6GB RAM. mine is still on track to ship tomorrow.... but i'd be happy to wait another week if i can save another $150.

I cancelled my order. I'm leaving on the 18th for a trip to Colombia South America and was looking forward to showing off the 3D to my friends there who have never seen 3D ever. When I get back I'll reevaluate what I want to do. I already have a 3d tv, so I may just buy a non 3d laptop elsewhere.

Sounds to me like HP does NOT have their shyt together with this laptop. Product constraints?? WHAT??? They just started making the damn thing, whats constraining? Pushing back delicery times, this that and the other thing. I wont be ordering any time soon. Sounds to me like they really rushed to put this laptop out their and cant really deliver on it.
