This is great news guys. it encourages me that HP will be solving, or at least alleviating, these problems in the SB Envy 17. Welcome to the "Waiting for the SB Envy and trying to decipher all the rumors" club :D

    hey guys and gals

just wanted to share some info with ya'll

i Was having issues with getting a wireless card i wanted...dual band, becuase of the whitelist so i was looking around

then i found out about the bad chipset, so i started to think about what i was going to do...

    well today i decided...

chatted with hp, and after chatting with them for a minute or so I then decided that they did not have the authority to do an exchange or solve my issue. So i ask for the number to the resolution department...

just got off the phone with a representative with the resolution department, which i was on hold, i bet it was only maybe 30 seconds. WOW

    the resolution....

    i upgraded to ;

HP Envy 17 3D customizable Notebook PC
    • Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    • Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-740QM Quad Core processor (1.73GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) w/Turbo Boost up to 2.93GHz
    • 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5850 Graphics [HDMI]
    • 8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • 640GB 7200RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    • No Additional Office Software
    • 50% OFF! One 6 Cell (standard) and One 9 Cell (over-sized) Lithium Ion Battery
    • 17.3" diagonal Full HD HP 3D Ultra BrightView Infinity LED Display (1920x1080)
    • Blu-ray player & SuperMulti DVD burner
    • HP TrueVision HD Webcam
    • Intel Wireless-N Card with Bluetooth
    • Backlit Keyboard
    • Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) Elements 8 & Adobe Premiere(R) Elements 8
    • HP 3D Active Shutter Glasses
    • HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope
HP 3-year Care Pack House Call Service with Accidental Damage Protection for Select Pavilion or Envy Laptop (with 2-yr warranty)

awsome $500.00 off plus free 2-day shipping

The only draw back is that since i got the full hd screen i probalby will not get the system till end of feb or first of march...

this department is great to work with, they sound like they would have done anything to keep my business...

i am very happy ...this is what i was looking at before i got the dv7tqe...
I guess for me i was luck the intel had an issue that could not be resolved by software...maybe not for others

i wil keep to follow the thread..
good luck to all of you

mikespda welcome to the Envy family. Sounds like you did great on your deal, and its nice to hear HP resolution center reps are really treating customers with respect and with helpful knowledge. Makes ya want to say "Ha!" to the other companies.... :p This just makes those dealing or about to deal with HP a little more confident in their decision. Thanks.

    KJ

well, through out reading post and reviews, i have read about good and bad thing concerning the hp lines in general....and the same goes for the other computer companies too...and after dealing with hp on the resent issue and the resolution, I feel like i have made the right desision by picking hp, dispite the issues we all have felt. i would rate hp resolution center customer service as one of the better ones to deal with, when they really want to keep you as a customer...i have had "0" issues with my dv7tqe for the short time i had it.
