I have an HP Pavilion DV7-2270us notebook which features Intel Q9000 Quad Core processor @ 2.0Ghz. Looking for some way to overclock the processor either within the OS (Win 7 64bit) by using SetFSB app, or if there is a way to hack the BIOS and access clock generator settings.
Why? Military simulation Arma II: Operation Arrowhead... multi-threaded (coded for multi cores) but still very CPU intensive.
Equally important to finding overclock method is finding app that will monitor and report CPU temperature so I can know if it gets too hot.

Sadly, mine is not a QX9000 just a vanilla Q9000 (non-extreme). However, a QX might be a drop-in upgrade for my notebook's motherboard... hmm...

You might have to open up your system to find the PLL chip. But setFSB, AFAIK, doesn't support any of the newer PLLs. So you'd have to do a hardware PLL pin mod to get an overclock.
