    I have a dv6152eu specs below:

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...7550&cc=uk&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_UKEN

anyways i didnt get to redeem my free vista because i was a bit busy and also the fact i did not have a credit card to use to redeem it with.

So i was wondering anyone know the cheapest place to buy vista home premium from for the U.K and will it work if i buy Vista for my laptop?

Will the webcam still work? are their vista drivers available for my webcam?

Also do i have to do anything to my laptop before putting vista on?

    Thanks

Vista will work on your machine, but with only 1 GB of RAM, XP will run much better than Vista. Right now, there's no real point in upgrading to Vista since XP can handle the same tasks, and usually at a faster pace.

I would say everything on your laptop looks pretty solid and vista ready. I would recommend upgrading to 2 gig of ram for optimal performance. Nowadays 2 gig will only cost you around 60 to 80 us dollars.

Your drivers can be updated through HP's website. I would recommend going that route.

As for getting a cheap copy of Vista, try your local university (assuming you are a student). Or I have heard good things about OEM software sites that basically sell software at student prices. Around $90 us dollars.

In my experience I would have to strongly disagree with the "faster pace" of XP over Vista. Vista has handles apps very well and load times are much faster, in my experience.

Where Vista has failed is in compatibility, but that has been getting much much better and by the first service pack release I believe this Fall or Winter will definitely resolve a lot of those issues.

Vista uses twice the RAM of XP, and usually pulls 3-5 FPS lower in games such as Oblivion because of poor drivers. I'm not saying Vista is a bad OS, it's just new, and I agree that future Service Packs will place it at a level higher than XP, but for now, there's no real reason to upgrade to Vista. It doesn't provide any must-have upgrade.

    Cheap RAM.

You can get vista OEM on newegg or amazon for about 130 for home premium.

I've had vista since launch on my desktop (64 bit) and have been very happy with it except my iphone doesn't work with 64 bit.

Seriously, if you listen to the vista bashers you'd think your computer would blow up if you try to install it. It's a very pleasant OS in my experience.
