Hey guys. I want to use the Voodoo ODD with a different notebook, but do I need special drivers? Or is it plug and play?

What interface is the Optical disc drive?
    mini SATA, or ATAPI?
I am thinking it is an ATAPI interface since the M133 is based on the Intel Metro which came out like 2 years ago.
You can use the optical drive in any system you want, as long as the interface is the same. No special drivers are needed, all you need is another laptop with teh same ODD interface, and a system which can fit the M133 ODD.

Hmm.. I'm a noob. How would I tell?

Tried it with two different esata expresscards so far, but I can't get the drive to do anything. So I guess I don't have the right kind...

    Its most likely IDE/ATAPI

When you take the optical drive out, it should have a port on the back which looks like this:

The port on the back of your ODD drive should look like the port on the lower half of the image.

How are you connecting your ODD to expresscard?
You would need a ATAPI to USB adaptor to use it outside of a laptop.

If you remove the optical drive from your M133 and the optical drive from another laptop, you should be able to physically slide the M133 optical drive into the other laptop.

Their is no need for expresscard.

sorry, i should have been more specific. it's the external drive they sell on the site under "accessories". It has a built in esata cable, so no ports to look at. Nothing on the site said it HAD to be used with the Envy 133 so I went ahead and ordered it for my dad's netbook.

if you are connecting it through an expresscard, than all you need to do is install the driver for your expresscard to esata adaptor, and it should work without any problems.

Alright, thank you! Maybe I just need to get a card from a better brand. The two I have are cheap and were a pain to get installed :(
