The notebooks has one year warranty and you can extend it by adding one year more at $99. For 3-year i think it will charge you more.

yeah...but they do come with waranty initially...right?....like i don't HAVE to get the extended waranty to be protected even a little, i am still protected for one year with normal waranty right?

Yes, they do come with 1yr standard warranty. If you are undecided you can still purchase the extended warranty until the end of the standard warranty.

ok....thank you guys...that sounds good, i think i will purchase it later on, as right now i want to mask the price from my parents, by upgrading the computer to the max, and then later on, ill ask them to upgrade the waranty

You are correct, buying the extended battery is cheaper if you buy it along with the laptop. If you want to buy it later on you will pay the full price which is ~$160.

keep in mind the 12 cell extends an inch from the bottom of the laptop, i got te high capacity 6 cell which is really an 8 cell (doesn't add thickness like the 12 cell), and then purcased a 12 cell of ebay just incase

oh...lol, well, that certainly isn't good now is it?..haha, yeah i'll just stick with the 6 cell for now, and later i'll see wheter i want to get another one, i'll keep an eye on ebay too, but couldn't they jsut cheat you by selling you a battery that is like reallly old and isn't that good anymore? Oh i have another question, when upgrading the ram, if i want to upgrade it myself and open up the laptop, do i loose the waranty?...because i do believe its like that for desktops, i just want to know wheter its the same for laptops, or do laptops have like a separate compartment which you can just unscrew and put the ram in without opening up the whole laptop?...please advise

Rember that you are getting a 1 year warranty that covers hardware only. So you don't get cover for accidental damage. If you are thinking on getting an extended warranty look at the accidental damage ones, because I think those cover both hard ware and accidental damage.

If you use a platinum mastercard, it will automatically extend the warranty for another year. That's a term in the platinum card agreement (made by the credit card company).

There's a very good warranty- guide on this site

Go take a look at the HP customer support pages. They have information about the warranty, as well as financing
(chances are that yes, there will be interest)
