I posted this in another thread, its teh coupon that's $200 off any customizeable HP laptop that some of you I know were planning on using.
---
When you fill in your billing info, you type in the coupon (that I did). Then it goes to a order preview page where it shows you the total price + rebates + instant savings + coupon. On the order preview page it showed that the coupon deducted $200 from the total price (instead of it being $1200 it was $1000). Then when I hit "SUBMIT ORDER" and after it processed I looked at the Order Confirmation page and noticed the coupon wasn't there.
I then called HP customer service about 3 times in 2 days.
First response:
"We don't combine coupons with other promotions." I was skeptical about that because the coupon said ALL CUSTOMIZEABLE LAPTOPS and every customizeable laptop had some type of free upgrade/instant savings/promotion.
So then I called again, and their second response was:
"I was told by my manager that it was a 600 person limit"
Third response a day later (just to test what they were saying):
"Yeah I'm being told that the reason your coupon isn't working is because when the order is being processed the system checks to see if the coupon is valid and apparently yours is invalid. Since its a third party coupon, its only valid for the first 600 people".
Hope that helps you, but yeah I was extremely pissed off.
----
So basically in a nutshell the coupon no longer works, so if you planned on using the coupon in an attempt to get more upgrades, its not going to work.
600 people got to use the coupon before us.

I just placed an order a little while ago using the $200 coupon and it showed it in my cart and shows it on my order confirmation e-mail so looks to me like it is still working. The expiration date on it is 9/2 i believe.
-
How long was a little whilte ago? I'll be extremely pissed off if this is true.
-
Same here, I tried it last night and it worked fine. Expiration date is 9/2
Also, it'll work with the $50 mail-in-rebate but it won't work with the student discount nor the $100 instant savings. At the end, the student discount plus the $100 instant savings is almost equal to the $200 coupon. There is a difference of 10 bucks in favor of the $200 coupon. -
-
ROAR! So the instant savings is why it didn't work on my dv5000t?
Now I'm furious. -
The same sort of thing happened to me today. Call cust support and talk to them. The last thing they want is an unhappy cust over a few $.
-
-
Why not just order through the HP academic program. Everyone qualifies, and I saved about $400 on a new DV6000t I ordered yesterday.... I pre-ordered (but didn't place the order) the same computer from the normal HP store with the $200 coupon and it came up $200 higher than the app price.
-
Without going into detail on this forum, a solution was provided that I was happy with. I can email the details if you would like.
-
Hey bgeiger, that's not always the case.
I tried both, the academic program and the $200 coupon, on my DV2000T and the price came out almost the same. By using the $200 coupon the price is cheaper by 10 bucks. I guess it all depends of what your configuration is. -
-
can you please email ([email protected]) it or pm to me?
-
Thanks Joe, I'll try to use it.
-
bgeiger is right. the academic program will save u more if ur price is high enough.
-
In my case both options came to the same amount with only a $10 difference. -
I used this coupon to place an order yesterday, and hpshopping.com applied the appropriate discount. However, due to circumstances beyond my control and not pertaining to use of the coupon, the original order was not verified. I had to jump through some hoops with HP and my credit card company to get everything straightened out, and the order was resubmitted just now. The HP customer service rep noted that I had used the $200 coupon on my original order and that the offer was valid only for the first 600 users, making me no longer eligible for the discount.
-
Hmm. That's kinda what happened to me. -
I called HP to ask them about the $200 coupon and they told me that the coupon was not good anymore, just like they told you "hww". So I went online and decided to try the coupon and I was able to place my order right now (Aug. 31 3:20pm pacific time) and it went through ok without any problems. Also, I just got the email confirming the approval of my order.
Unless I receive an email or a phone call cancelling my order, it seems like the coupon is still valid. -
GRRR!!!
Now I'm pissed off. Not just furious, but pissed off. -
So I take it the coupon still works? The reason I asked is because I am planning to buy the dv6000t
-
nvm I just tried it and the coupon did in fact work
-
That's great. Maybe I'll go ahead and purchase tonight before it truly dies.
-
Quote from "Order Accepted" email:
Summary of discounts for order number:
Instant discounts you received:
$200.00 Coupon NB8474
Mail-in rebates you qualify for:
$50.00 Notebook rebate ( print form)
Used it yesterday. It works. -
You guys really need to hurry. Order your core 2 duo computers today seriously. I ordered yesterday and my order was confirmed.
-
I ordered mine, it went through, and hp called me to verify, and order was approved. I think the 200 bucks off on the 6000t is waaaay cheaper than the APP. for mine the 200 bucks was cheaper by like 100 bucks vs the APP.. i cant wait for my laptop to come
-
I used the coupon to order yesterday...so, when can we expect these machines to ship out? I was given a sep. 11th build date. I also requested two day delivery, as i'm expected to leave the country on the 15th. Please tell me all my waiting won't be in vain due to petty customs holdups!
-
So I guess the $200 coupon x's out the $100 instant savings? I'm very curious to know why my coupon didn't work.
-
Has anyone gotten this to work RECENTLY(yesterday or today) on a dv2000 series? It seems the dv6000 may still work, but does the dv2000 keep its' $100 instant savings?
-
Also, if your total price is anything over $1400 you will be better of by using the "student/academic discount". You'll save more money that way. -
-
Thanks very much for the responses guys. I appreciate it!
-
fyi... i just used the code to order a dv2000z customized and it went through fine.
-
is there a way to tell if the code works before i actually purchase it. i only have enough money in the bank to cover the 200 off. if the coupon doesnt go through ill have a problem
EDIT: ok nevermind i skipped over the part where he said it tells you before.
Warning, "NB8474" coupon no longer valid.
