Alright, One of my friend's friend spilled some sort of water on his laptop, it's a HP Dv2500 Model. I know that he spilled water on the laptop or something else because I can see little dried water spots between the keyboard keys. Now, The laptop does turn on, it goes through the bios but Windows Boot Manager comes up, and there is a loud beeping noise. From here, nothing works. none of the keys work, even when trying to enter the bios settings, it won't recognize the keyboard.

Now, I have tried serveal things, I took the c-mos battery out, Ram, HDD, and battery and dried the keyboard with a hair dryer, and still no luck. It's been like this for about 2-3 days now.

What else can I try or do?

Have you tried leaving the keyboard out and using a USB desktop keyboard instead? You might have a stuck key on the laptop keyboard.

That has much more luck if the water is dried before it gets any power. If the water was there while power was turned on, then there is a possibility that the water formed a electrical circuit with something that isn't supposed to do so and "fried" something. Atleast all my notebooks keyboards look pretty solid construction against water, so in order to cause damage I would assume that the water has to go from the tiny gaps between the keyboard and chasis directly to the electronics inside the computer (motherboard, etc). If that is the case, then there isn't much you can do without good knowledge about electronics and how to measure it with multi-meter.

On the other-hand, the beeping noise somehow indicates that the BIOS keyboard buffer is full because of repeating keypresses. And because you aren't pressing those buttons, it means probably either a stuck key or a short-circuit someh where in the keyboard electronics (the circuit-board that routes power to the keys and measures them). So it might be good idea to get a replacing part and replace that keyboard.

How dangerous! Try to make sure everything works... like test that optical drive!
I have bought an used laptop before and they spilled coffee on it. -_- cursed seller didn't tell me about it. PCMCIA slot and mini-pci were both toasted. Optical drive was all sticky. Tons of cleaning and those things still don't work, probably blew some internal fuses and hopefully wont behave like ESD damaged goods with random failures.

I had a dell and I spilled coffee on it. I had to take everything apart clean it and put it all back together. After everything was done the cd player would not read anything buy all else worked.

No, the CD Drive works perfectly! I just rinsed the whole keyboard hoping to get the coffee stains out and I'm going to try it tomorrow.

97% isopropol alcohol is your friend! :)

As long as all power is removed it is a great way to fix/prevent damage due to a spill. Just remove the batteries and HD then soak in the alcohol for a few minutes, shake off the excess, and let dry for 24hrs. The alcohol displaces water, doesn't damage the circuits, helps remove any crud from dried liquids, and dries quickly.

Got it, Just installed the keyboard. It works fine, and I am typing on it from here. Perfect fit.

Now how much should I charge for labor? I opened up the whole case, cleaned the CPU fans dust and cleaned the dried up coffee spots on the metal.

Probably should have worked that out first.

Figure out how long it took you, then pick an hourly rate and go from there. You might want to see how much others like Geek Squad charges for stuff like this.

alright, I guess $150 is good enough. I mean labor was a *****, I took apart the whole laptop, cleaned up everything, took me about 4 hours to take off and put everything back together, (thank god, I didn't lose any screws). and I paid $32 for the keyboard so, $150 is good enough, eh?

Lol, nah He's not my friend, he's my friends friend. Plus he's over here living and working by himself, not much expenses for him. I'd say $150 is reasonable, because your not going to get a better deal than that if you take it elsewhere.
