Not surprising. AMD is trying to make dynamic switchable graphics their norm and Lenovo is probably using the same drivers as HP.

Which means that there are very few options for those of use who need to buy a laptop with a Radeon card. Boo.

Just give it a little while. I am sure that AMD is aware of the problem and will release a fix soon enough

Exactly, this is actually good news for us. More widespread the issue the grater the chance they will actually fix it.

good point--the more widespread this issue, maybe the quicker action will be taken, but my god, we are already into at least the fifth week of this debacle. time's a wasting, AMD!! get a move on!

Its a driver related issue? What series are affected? Just the AMD Mobility 6XXX or the 5XXX too?

The Lenovo Y460p and Y560p have Radeon cards but no switchable graphics. They're about the only ones left in their size/price class that don't.

Spoke with support at Toshiba. New x770 / x775 Qosmios have switchable graphics that can be disabled in the bios...

Optimus isn't a real big hit, either

I have said it before and I'll say it again, dynamic switching is annoying and buggy and I would much rather have manual

You and everyone else would rather have manual!

Those are DTR systems and more pricey than this HP and the Y460p/Y560p. They're more on-par with the Sager NP8130, MSI Force 16F2, etc, and those models don't have switchable graphics.

Couldn't agree more. I returned my Optimus-enabled notebook in favor of one without switchable graphics. I rarely have my sytem unplugged, so battery life isn't a major concern.

Lol, e520 and vostro 3550 are ones that i am considering buying. Would you recommend buying one of these with switchable graphics problem right now?

Since this is now a Levono issue too I think it's a safe bet it will get fixed at some point. When is the 10 million dollar question.

I say skip them for the next generation of their line.
No point in paying for a AMD preview technology. Support is limited, you really don't want to be like those early Nvidia Optimus adopters a couple of years ago. You never know that you might get screwed over when they finally fixed it.
