    Hi,
I have a dv2500t and have just noticed that the latchless lid is getting weak. It doesnt have that magnet effect at the end when I close it. The lid doesnt stick to the keyboard like it used to. Is this expected and is their any way I can strengthen the magnet?

It's not a magnet. The spring in the hinge is what resists the opening of the laptop.

But whenever the lid was close to the base it used to clip to it as if it had a magnet. Is it the spring which does that??

    Yes. It's a spring clamp.

And can this be changed? Is it something I can do or something HP does?

Are these springs durable, do they wear and tear easily?

Dont worry, there will be some play with the lid when it is closed due to the nature of the spring. As long as the screen feels tight and doesn't wobble around when you have it open I wouldn't bother about the slight play when the lid is closed. The springs are durable as long you don't push it to the extremes, I have had mine for the past 1.5yrs and the hinges are still good.
