I use Nero 7 Ultra, besides being able to record video you can do anything with DVDs and CDs I wouldn't be able to use my laptop without it. It's only like $50.00 off Ebay....

is there any free programs that you know of that i can download to record vids with my webcam? FREE???

Dorgem is the only good free program that I know of it's actually probabaly exactly what your looking for. http://dorgem.sourceforge.net/

I've never used Airman's recommendation, but if your system has Vista, you can use HP's included Quickplay software to do exactly what you're wanting. I believe only the new Quickplay 3.0 (for Vista) has this feature, so if you're on XP, you're likely out of luck. In which case, try out Airman's suggestion.

i dont have vista....
i tried downloading that dorgem thing, and it looks like its what im looking for... but i dont get exactly how to use it.... how do you save your video that you captured? -
I tried that dorgem thing too. It's interesting, but really just to take snapshots. It isn't designed for video capture.

If you have XP/MCE you should have Windows movie maker installed already. For XP the latest verison is 2.1. As far as I know it comes with vista as well.
You can use that. It's a good simple program to use. -
The Vista version of movie maker doesn't allow access to the webcam... and least that I can find. The only camera option is for digital cameras... and it doesn't recognize the internal webcam as one.
I try Nero, though, and it worked pretty well. Never knew that was an included feature in Nero. -
To make .avi files you configure your format, then select a location to save the file/s, next go to options under the avi tab check use avi archive. Then select your frame rate, and configure your webcam.

killstyx -- Hmmm... that's odd. I can't tell for sure if my system is doing that, because there's still no working sound drivers for my notebook so I can't see if the sound is sped up. Just going by video length and apparent playback speed, it looks right. Have you downloaded the QuickPlay update that is available? I know that corrects a lot of issues... not sure about this one.
