The webcam on my DV9000t is working fine until I recently installed the software for my AverMedia USB TV tuner.

I confirmed this when I managed to get the webcam to work after disabling the TV tuner.

Any workaround for this or do I have to live with it?

Which programs do you have problems with? I have AverMedia TV tuner and my desktop does detect it as a web cam device, so you need to reconfigure your programs to use the HP camera.
I'm currently not on my desktop, but as far as I remember there was a specific icon for such devices in my Control Panel. Check there.
