A couple of days ago, my webcam refused to work( grey image on MSN messenger, black image if I access the webcam from My PC) . I rebooted my notebook several times with no luck, and after reading some posts related to usb incompatibilities with Windows, an idea came to my mind: disconnect all the usb devices, and reboot notebook. wow!, my webcam was working! . then I connected all the usb devices and the webcam was still working.

so, whenever I turn on my notebook it must have all the usb devices disconnected ( I use an usb hub so it's easy) and wait until the notebook is on windows desktop to reconnect.

My OS is Windows XP Pro , and the webcam is automatically recognized as
"dispositivo de video USB" (USB video device)

hope this works under windows vista too.. :)
