I have a problem with my webcam, at first it worked but the next time I used in windows messenger it did not work anymore. It said the webcam was not connected. So I real installed the drivers and rebooted and the webcam worked. But now it stop working again. Does anyone know how to fix this and are there good working drivers for the webcam in vista 64-bit? and where to find on the site from HP there are no drivers for the webcam

    Thanks for the help

On my DV6000, if I sleep/shut down/restart the computer, the webcam stops working. It means I gotta install the drivers everytime I need to use it, which is a major pain!

Hopefully HP are working on a new driver asap.

The problem is caused by Windows messenger. That program causes all other webcam programs to malfunction saying the webcam isn't connected until the computer is rebooted. The problem doesn't alway occur when using windows messenger. If you disable windows messenger from starting up with Vista and use a different program such as Yahoo messenger, then your webcam will always function. as long as windows messenger isn't running or has run since you booted up your computer.

I can't believe HP hasn't notified Microsoft about this problem and fixed this problem yet. Windows Live Messenger has better video than Yahoo messenger.

I don't think it's right to blame Messenger for it: I don't have Messenger set to run on startup so it's nothing to do with that. I think it's just a bad driver.
