When I have my laptop powered off (shutdown), I can tap my QuickPlay button and the computer turns on! The actual power button works also. It's only the first QuickPlay button that does this for some odd reason. It gets annoying when cleaning my laptop because I always accidentally touch the touch sensitive button. Is this normal? It's not a huge problem, but is very annoying! Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Yes, I think it is normal, at least on Toshiba's and Dell's, when you hit the media button they turn on. While they are normally designed to go into a pre-boot environment, if the media boot software is removed, it will boot to Windows

This is really funny. I called HPIT just yesterday to ask if anything could be done. I was told no one else has said anything about this problem.
He told me the big problem everyone calls about is the buttons turn off and no longer work. In fact that was the problem he thougth I was calling about.

IMOP. I think everyone who thinks that this Q button is a problem. Drop an Email or a phone call and generate as many suport Tickets as we can. To try and get HP to put a a switch in the Bios or some other option to change the way the "Q" key operates when the computer is shut off.

I told HPIT it was hard to believe I was the very 1st one to report this.

We have the same issue on an HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop in the shop.

Thats what its supposed to do. Its a feature where pressing that button when the laptop is off was supposed to quickly boot up into a media environment - quickplay, so that users could play DVD's, music etc without having to boot into Windows. However, with the launch of quickplay 3.0/Vista, this feature only boots into the OS and then launches quickplay, totally defeats the purpose of that button IMO.
