My laptop won't start-up. When I start it up everything works fine until it tries to load the log-in screen. When it tries to it can never get past the black screen. Then I manually restart the laptop and I use the startup repair to do a restore point. It starts up fine after that, but the next time I have to start it up I have to do the whole thing all over again. I think it's a problem with a weird shut down my laptop has been doing. When I shut it down, it goes to the shut screen saying Please Wait, then it goes back to my desktop, and then finally to the shut down screens. Anyways, I have a dv9500t, Windows Vista, 2 gigs of ram, 8600M GS card. Thanks for any help.

You should back up your data, then use either the recovery partition on your laptop or if you burned recovery discs, use those to restore your laptop to the factory installed state.

How would I restore it using the recovery partition on my laptop?

I believe you press f10 or f11 soon after pressing the power button.
