My 2 month old notebook has developed a knocking sound (sounds like someone taping on glass) It happens about every 5-10 seconds and is easy to hear. Its coming form the left bottom corner from what I can tell? Any ideas?

Does it always happen ? It might be the fan too.
But more likely it's the HDD.

Not necessarily a drive failure, can be something installed that periodically writes to the drive - like a key/activity logger or other spyware. Make sure you run the latest updates and perform a full scan of the computer. AVG have very good free anti-virus software and a quite powerful trial anti-spyware one. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

yup it maybe your hdd failing
i had the same thing happen to my netebook wwithin one month of me buying it but luckily all my data was backed up and it was still under warranty
bteer back up all your data just in case to be on the safer side
also use hd tune software or something equivalent to check for hdd errors and faults
if you still have any doubts you could download the testing software from the hdd manufacturers website support section

Just to let you know, if it sounds like a light click every 10 seconds or so.. its normal. the heads are parking, and something is accessing your drive.. mine does it too. I have done multiple scans and the drive is fine..
