brianstretch Notebook Virtuoso
dv6-1253ca specifications
Intel notebook, 802.11n which is likely Intel... hmm, other than making sure you have the current firmware flashed into your wireless router and have the encryption settings on your notebook set to match the router (and the router doesn't have a MAC whitelist set up to only allow listed wireless clients to access the Internet)... dunno. Anyone? -
thx for the info but i noe im not using N, i was on WEP before but now i changed it to WPA-PSK and i think it connects now...
I want to stream files from my main comp but when enter the 'Network', i c my main comp but when i enter it nothing shows up lol I have already set my folders on the main comp to be able to share on the network.
A side question, is it ok if i uninstall the HP Mediasmart programs like Mediasmart TV, i dont have a tv tuner so isn't app useless to me lol I dont want to delete the wrong things -
Typical issue if when using WEP and the keys do not match.

A number of users have reported similar problems with their Intel 5100 wireless N capable units and solved the problem by turning off the N function. First though, go here and install the most current driver. I understand that this link is for the DV4t but most of the current DV models use the same Intel driver and it should work.

If that doesnt help after re-boot and provided you are not using wireless N, try turning the N function off. To do this, go to Device Manager. Find Network Adapters. Select & right click Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN. Select properties. This should open the WiFi menu with multiple tabs. Select the Advanced tab. In the Advanced Property section, select 802.11 N mode. In the Value pull down to the right, select Disabled. Click OK and exit. Re-BOOT and cross your fingers.
