    Hi!

Ive started to have some weird problems with my DV2104.
Well, when I try to turn it on with battery inside and AC connected I only see black screen power light come up and thats it.
Ive tried without battery, only on battery - same thing. I opened all bays, putting in HDD and RAM again, making sure there is no loose connection or sthing.
Still nothing. Ive tried the remote on/off button and QP option, still the same.
The most weird thing is that when I was pluging the AC in it was starting off yet still black screen and no HDD activity, just lights coming up, like earlier.

Ive left it for a while and finally it booted up normaly.
Than today I had the same. I thought, maybe its battery - I usually keep it in coz Im afraid of loosing some of my work sometimes when power goes down. I took it out. Plugged AC in (no lights coming up this time though) and after few power on/power off's it started ok.

What might be a problem here, then?? Getting worried if it might be HDD as Ive got a lot of data to back up...

    HELP!!

Does the HP logo screen come up? Can you access the BIOS?

No. I wasnt able to do anything. It powered up, the blue light (i love the color of diodes in this lap) came up, and silence... no hdd activity, dvd spinned for a 2 sec and that was it.
After it booter for the 1st time yesterday I tedted the HDD (quick test in BIOS and it was fine).

Sounds like a firmware problem. Check the connections on you motherboard, they might be loose/shorting.

But it never had any problems :/ And never felt down or anything.
I also noticed that it started to crash in Windows recently as well. I need to start making backups and I guess I will send it on the warranty. I will e-mail tech support as well.

I have a dv2116wm laptop and it was doing the exact same thing yours was doing. It got to the point that all I had was a paperweight on my desk at only 6 months old. I sent it back to hp to be fixed last month. They have had my laptop for almost a month now and I'm getting really upset. Hope you have better luck with yours.

I still have mine and the problem persist. Ive noticed though that leaving AC on, without runing laptop on for 5-10 min and it boots up just fine. Im going to send mine away aroudn the end of September when I will have my ne HP :)
But I believe that this is a motherboard problem, or a loose connection somewhere. At least HDD is working fine [fingers crossed] and I will back up all my data.
I might try to do a fresh windows copy, just before I send it [got Norton Ghost] to see if it is still the same. I hope there wont be any problems as i deleted the recovery partition... waste of space anyway... if it doesnt boot u still cant get to it lol.

My husband called HP last night and finally found out what is taking sooooo long. I guess they are replacing the motherboard and won't be getting the motherboard in till the 25th of September. Hopefully I should get mine back before the end of this month. When you send yours in expect to have it gone for a month. I sure hope yours doesn't take as long as mine has.

I have no idea what the policy is. If I don't get it back by oct.1 i plan on finding out. That was my main computer. The one i'm using now is a 7 year old compaq presario that restarts unexpectedly. I sure hope you have better luck when you send yours in.
