Well I’m wondering if somebody has any advice for an issue, it’s not really bad it’s just annoying. When I turn my notebook on it takes probably around 1-1/2 minutes to load, sometimes it loads a little faster but lately when I turn it on the icons don’t load all the way and also the start bar doesn’t fill in with the quick icons, it will eventually but it sits there for 15 seconds not loading. I use zone alarm with full security settings, maybe it has something to do with it, but I’m not sure. Does anybody have any advice on this? Is so please help! I have a dv6129us

That's just Windows. Windows presents you with the desktop before it's finished loading all the drivers and services and startup programs, so just because you see the desktop, doesn't mean the computer is ready to use. Stupid, I know. They should load everything and THEN present you with the desktop. That's how it SHOULD work, and how it does work with every other operating system besides Windows.

Give give it a few minutes to finish loading everything and the desktop and icons and whatnot should all appear normal.

Yea I agree. Plus I suggest getting AVG Anti-Virus because even though you have Zone Alarm, AVG detects more viruses and its free so you have nothing to lose. I had problems before with slow load ups such as after everything is loaded there are several items that just wont load for a while. I had Zone Alarm but it didn't find any viruses but AVG did and afterwards it loaded up fine. There are just some Trojans that embed itself into the OS. And since its free you have nothing to lose.

Thanks for the help, i thought that maybe there was a particular kind of virus that presented those symptons, it would be nice if they would boot up just like the first time you turn them computer on fresh out of the box.

that's easy, download the program called "WinPatrol", a comprehensive windows tool, that shows all your Start-up programs, background running services, hidden files...etc.

from there you can disable/delete any unwanted start-up programs thus speed up your start-up process.

    Download here: http://www.winpatrol.com/download.html

    also, another free anti-virus: avast!
it uses less memories and cpu power thus also speed up your start-up.

and also, if you are running Vista and have your side-bar launched automatically, disable it, as I have experienced difficulty with side-bar being auto-start, slowed down my computer alot.
