Okay i know the basics of pc's but my pc keeps poping this box up in the lower corner saying your pc will restart in 4 min. with a restart button or pospone button. Then if i restart it and let the updates configure or whatever when it reboots it says sorry updates could not be completed. Also i try to open files with adobe reader 8 and my pc freezes up for like 3 min then a screen pops up that says this file could not be read then after i click okay it shows it. Whats the deal anyone know?

Is the pop up box from windows or a different program? Maybe Norton?

Are you running Windows XP? I think it may be an Adobe update malfunction. I used to have the same problem but can't remember how I fixed it. Try manually updating the software...

No series updating program will have a time-frame for restarts. I'd say hurry up and check for viruses / malware /spyware..

the box at the bottom just poped up and said windows could not install important updates please restart and it starts to count down from 4 min. When i restart it it says sorry updates were not sucecssfully installed. Adobe still can pull some stuff up and i upgraded to the newest version. Im about to just take it to geeksquad or something.

this happens to me also, its the vista auto update. but you should manually install the updates that the auto update is trying to install. this worked for me a couple times, if not, just hide the update that causes windows to keep restarting.
