I just ordered a new dv9700t with the t7500 Processor with the 8600 GS Graphics card. I want to purchase more RAM before it arrives. The processor has an 800Mhz front side bus. Do I order RAM that runs at 800 Mhz or the 667 MHz RAM?

    Thanks

It won't run at 800mhz, closest is 667mhz. The cheapest ram right now *4gb* is 50 bucks after rebate from newegg.com, I believe it is PQI. Go that route and you will be fine.

Yeah just look for DDR2-667 PC2-5300/5400 200-pin Sodimm. The ram deals thread also might have some deals(look at the first and last couple of pages).

Also your laptop has 2 slots for memory so take that into consideration.

The FSB is 800MHz, but the RAM is not connected to the FSB, only the CPU is. The RAM is connected to the memory bus, which only runs at 667MHz. If you go to a site like Crucial they will present 800MHz RAM as an option, but they are lying -- it will work, but you get no extra speed from it.
