I have a new DV6 6050 SS with beats system sound. It is stock and it sounds crappy with rock songs. Is it a good system sound? I cannot equalize correctly for rock sound...

I'm a bit of an audiophile, but realistic when it comes to onboard laptop sound. With that said, I love everything about my DV7TQE other than the "Beats" audio. Beats audio is just a branding mechanism and, judging by their headphones, everything with that brand is generally rubbish. I've had several other laptops with much better onboard sound.

Dont expect much from it, just invest in a good set of headphones or IEM's. Personally I run Fiio E10 as DAC > JDM Labs CMoyBB > Denon D2000's. IMO the best "portable" setup for around 500 bucks, but a pair of 40 buck Klipsch s4's or Brainwavz M1 would be a good investment if you just want a good sounding set of IEM's. Check out the HeadFi forums for a good comparison of whats out there. Theres a huge selection of IEM's and headphones that offer quality at a reasonable price. Just for the love of god stay away from skullcandy/beats/(Other overpriced POS here).

Well, it is clear to me that it isn't a good soundsystem but there must be some way for making the sound better. Specially when the song includes a lot of high tunes sounds.

the speakers are just horrible, there's little you can do to make it sound good.

Yup. No settings can make crap not sound like crap. Invest in a set of IEM's or Headphones.

External speakers/headphones... the audio circuitry is actually quite a bit better than you find on most laptops... the dv7t w/subwoofer isn't great, but certainty listenable

I find the Beats Audio does make the external speakers sound better (not that I would use them much in the first place) but it sounds really odd with headphones (at least with the ones that I have).

I don't have sound problem with Headphone/IEM. Tested a few and all sound pretty darn good. Only the laptop speaker need to tweak to get a quite decent sound.

It depends of the music you listen to... Listening to house/electro music with the Beats Audio with external speakers becomes really cool, but theres no need to use the software for rock music, for example. Thats my opinion.

I think that it's great for Laptop speakers, but it's not exceptionally loud. If it didn't say Beats, I would think that they are just decent - "good enough" speakers.

Thats all they needs to be. I just need good sound for my headphones. Speaking of which, the beats control panel committed suicide. No EQ or anything is available for some reason.
