Just got dv3t CTO from HP today. Very nice notebook, except that I miss the touchable playback controls on the body. It would have been very nice if there were a way to quickly control music/video playback. So, I am going to do a clean install on it this weekend, and I am downloading latest drivers from HP site. On HP's site, there are couple of things that I dont know if I need to install after clean install or not. Can you guys help me understand the purpose of these items:

    HP Connection Manager
HP Mobile Broadband Drivers - Qualcomm Gobi1000
    USB Recovery Flash Disk Utility
    ENE CIR Receiver Driver

Also, why are there no drivers for ProtectSmart and Intel Matrix Storage Manager on HP's site? Although, I found something in latest-drivers-for-dv3 thread on this forum, but is there any compatibility issue or other reason for HP to not have those drivers under dv3t support page?
    Thanks for help folks.

For quick media control - Winamp global hotkeys. ;) Foobar2000 supports global hotkeys also.

HP Connection Manager - no idea.
Mobile Broadband Drivers - for laptops with built-in WWAN (internet via GSM card)
USB Recovery Flash Disk - exactly what it says
ENE CIR Receiver - Infrared receiver (for that crappy little remote).

As for ProtectSmart and Intel Matrix Storage - well they are available for my models. My guess - plain laziness.

HP connect manager is pretty useless, it just lets you disable Wifi, BT and/or WWAN(?) individually instead of just using the physical switch or device manager.

HP connect manager would be useful if you mod your notebook with WWAN capabilities.
