Just FYI, "coolest" mode reduces temps by disabling turbo boost, so if you're doing anything CPU-intensive, you might want to change that setting to Performance Optimized mode.

Mine is quietest for lap and I recently switched from coolest to optimized for desk.

    HI Guys
I recently bought an HP Dv6-3104eg. Where can I find the cool sense software to install ?

Could not find a link after many searches.

It's part of the HP Support Assistant download ;)

I keep mine on performance optimised most of the time. I might switch to coolest though, the temps the CPU hits worry me, and I don't really think that the games I run need the extra clock speed.

I use coolest for both desk and lap.
it reduce CPU temp. about 10C during gaming "The Witcher 2" without any performance loss.

Depends on the room I am in, to be honest. If I am in a really quiet room, say the library, I have it on Quietest or Performance Optimized. Usually I keep it on Coolest, though, because it doesn't seem that loud with almost any ambient noise.

In addition to this, does the Windows 7 "High Performance" battery profile do anything?
