I just ordered a dv1000 online and have heard great things about the computer, but I had a couple of questions about some things that I have heard. First, are the inverse color problems much worse than any other laptop? how is the screen overall? Second, I ordered the 12 cell battery, not thinking that it would be twice as big as the 6 cell. I have seen pictures and it looks ugly. What is the battery life like with this battery? what are people getting with their 6 cells? Is the ugliness of hte 12 cell worth it? What other great things/ bad things do you have to say about the notebook?

Overall I like my DV1000 and am very happy with it.
I do not see as much a problem with inverse colors and it only appears when I significantly change my up and down viewing angle to the screen. My screen does not have the Brightview option. It seems the Brightview option may increase this affect. The screen could be better, text on it is a bit fuzzy, but video and pictures are great. The screen is very bright and I have no bad pixels.
The touchpad seems a bit unsensitive to me, and I have played with the settings for it, but I am used to using an IBM Trackpoint for mousing and I think I will have to get used to the touchpad.
I did get the 12 cell battery and was also worried I would regret it, but after 1 month of use I really like it.
The battery life is great... 7+ hours, which, as I understand is about twice what you get with the 6 cell. I just posted in another thread on this topic here http://www.notebookreview.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8069 and describe some of the other good side affects of having the 12 cell battery.
Overall I am glad I got the 12 cell battery and I think this is a very nice notebook.
What are your dv1000 impressions?
