So im about ready to order my HP dv6500 cto with 2gbs ram 120gb HDD, Duo Core 2 7300, microphone and fingerscanner, but i dont know what battery to get, Im trying to keep my price down, but its only $50 to get the 12v, i hear that it helps the cooling with the 12v size, but should i invest in it or keep it at 6v or even the extended 6v.

    Make up your own mind.
I have the 12v which prolongs my battery life about 4~5 hours, and yes it definitely helps the air flow underneath the laptop, since it raises the laptop couple inches. However, it's bulky in size might not be very suitable for traveling, but I found it's quite comfortable to carry it in my backpack between classes, and the extra weight is really no big deal...

I'll also vote for the 12 cell. Keeps the laptop up in the air, and makes for a nice carrying handle.

What's your priority? Light weight or long battery life? Can't believe you can't decide for yourself!

6-cell will have nothing sticking out, no extra weight and get you about 3 hours. 12-cell will stick out but angle the laptop a little nicer helping airflow and typing and get you 4-5 hours. Its really a personal decision.

hey give him a break! That is actually one of my decisions too when customizing 6500...My girlfriend got the 12 cell and it does make it kinda nice having it propped up in the back, and it pretty comfy when typing on a flat surface. Makes it more like a normal keyboard from a desktop. But i may not need all that battery life and feel it would be wasted money. As of now, i believe i am going with the 12 cell, but i am still considering a 6 cell.

Your answers from his question gave me a great deal of info. I think I'll get a 12 and a 6.

Get a 6 cell and get the 12 cell later on... Compusa has them on sale sometimes for $130 and so does Best Buy. The 12 cell is HEAVY and is a little bothersome to carry when latched to the laptop. If you're in school you'll eventually feel this extra weight. I would recommend 2 6cell batteries. The advantage with 6 cells is it recharges faster and you can do that while in the library or in between classes. If you're going to be on a long flight, a 12cell battery would be more feasable but then again can only watch one or two movies.

For $50 more you should get the 12volt.
