    This one is cheap.

But will it work fine? I have a Compaq v2404us (v2000 series).

If anyone could point me out to another device that is price in the same ball park then let me know. I have looked at the retail HP/Compaq adapter and its about $50. But since this one is a good deal cheaper, I wouldnt mind picking it up if it works.

That adapter is fine but the thing you must think while using it in the car is stability and surges. I am sure it will work for your laptop but if it doesn't have any surge protection or fuse to absorb the wrong currencies that may occur while charging. Then you are risking your 800-1000 bucks for an untested/unprotected adapter. Nothing out there is 100% so just becareful and try not to charge in the car. Just get a 12 cell as main and/or a second (6cell) one if needed if you got the needs of 6hrs+ usage instead of using car adapters.
