I am eying a DM4T, but since it probably requires a signature on delivery, I am wondering which courier does HP use when you select free-shipping? FedEx, or UPS?

If it's UPS, I'll probably have a much better chance at intercepting the package.

Agreed, I dislike FedEx. I dont see why they are the only shipping company that has held any item of mine in transit for a week, for basically no reason. At least USPS/UPS keeps my item moving.

I hate UPS. They almost ran me over with their truck as I tried to fix my bike (chain was loose) when I was only 6 years old...

I'm sure Ken Jennings hates Fedex too.

If you're lucky enough to have a FedEx World Service Center in your area you can have the laptop shipped there and use there Hold For Pick Up service. It'll be there by 8:30am on your delivery date. You can just go down and pick it up instead of waiting for the driver all day long and possibly miss you. You can only do it a certain way though.

    1. It must be a FedEx staffed World Service Center. Kinkos offers the FedEx hold for pick service but HP won't ship it there.

    2. It must be done when you place the order. Meaning, the shipping address you enter on the checkout screen must be the address of the FedEx service center.

    3. On the Address 1 line you put "FEDEX HOLD FOR PICKUP"

    4. FedEx will call you either that day or the next day to verify the shipping address since it doesn't match the billing address. Your order will not be processed until they verify the address so answer your phone..lol

I use the above process for anything shipped to me via FedEx so I don't blow a whole a day waiting for them.

FedEx, which makes me happy because there is a FexEx right down the block from me, so when i missed my delivery due to non working doorbell, i just walked down there and picked it up like an hour later, lol

I prefer UPS simply because they always make it to my home in the afternoons, and since the window is narrower, it makes it easier for me to come home from work and camp outside for packages if need be.

Mine came via FedEx Home. A printer come one day and a laptop the next. Each time, I could see the box had just been thrown into the back of the van and then boxes and carts thrown on top as they moved along the route (they back into my drive so that you can see into the van when they open up the back doors). I was amazed the laptop wasn't damaged. The box was really beat up.

Still, FedEX is better than UPS. You never know when UPS will show up and they break things even more than FedEX plus the drivers have such a bitter attitude.
