    Hello all,
First of all, thank you for reading this post.

My HP dv2550se died today. I get this one long beep and two short beeps when I turn on the system, and it won't get thru POST and does not even make it to BIOS. Apparently, this is a common problem due to integrated GPU failure in HP dvxxxx series that were manufactured in 2007, and the permanent solution to fix this problem is replacing the notebook motherboard ($$$... :( ).

Was anyone able to revive their laptop by replacing the motherboard or re-using working components on desktop motherboard? If you did, could you inform me what hardwares you purchased?

Any suggestions, recommendation, or advices from your experience would be very helpful.
Thank you very much for any input and your help in advance!

    SP

Go to you tube and search "reflowing ibm". I used those instructions and revived a dv2000.

If you read he has a dv2550se. The enhancment was only for pre dvx500 laptops that had Nvidia chipsets ( i.e AMD laptops ). His laptop had an nvidia graphics card which is a diffrent story. Anyways yes i have replaced many motherboards and fixed many laptops this way its easy. I would suggest calling HP and buying an extended warrenty ( as long as you arent 255 days out of warrenty ) and sending it in.

    Pavilion dv2550se specifications

Looks like he doesn't even have an NVIDIA GPU, just plain ol' Intel. So no enhanced warranty but reflowing still might be the solution?

My laptop has integrated intel. No NVidia..
I think reflowing is the only solution for reviving this laptop.
If that doesn't work, I will sell it on eBay or something to get whatever I can from it.

    Thanks to both of you!
