So I am definitely in the market for the HP dv5t, and if I combine HP's instant savings and the current 20% cashback offer from live.com, I can get a customized laptop with Bluray for around $750. Here's my config:

Operating system Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (32-bit) edit
    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T5800 (2.0GHz) edit
Display 15.4" diagonal WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Infinity Display (1280 x 800) edit
Memory FREE Upgrade to 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) edit
Graphics card Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD edit
Hard drive 250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection edit
Personalization HP Imprint Finish (Mesh) + Microphone + Webcam for HP BrightView Infinity Display edit
Keyboard HP Color Matching Keyboard edit
Networking Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card with Bluetooth edit
Modem Port Integrated 56K Modem edit
Primary DVD/CD drive Blu-Ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW Double Layer edit
TV & entertainment experience No TV Tuner w/remote control edit
Primary battery High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery edit
Productivity software Microsoft(R) Works 9.0 edit

It would cost $968.99, and with the the 20% cashback it's down to only $775. Do you guys think I'll be able to do better than this closer to/after Christmas? My budget was going to be <$700 but I think I can spring for $75 in order to get Bluray. Any thoughts???? :D

Yeah, I thought about that, but: a. It adds to the cost. b. there are heating issues. c. I don't do any gaming. d. I think it decreases the battery life.

Looks like a nice spec notebook. I agree, that if you don't do any gaming, then you probably won't need to upgrade the graphics.

Thanks. Also, my budget doesn't really allow me to buy BOTH Bluray AND the Nvidia graphics card, so I think I'll stick with the Intel 4500.

Will Blu-ray work with Intel 4500?

The older Intel 4500 apparently didn't work too well with BluRay, but the newer 4500MHD does.
