To anyone who can help.
I've accidentally spotted a HP Pavilion dv6-6090ef on a website in my country (Romania) and it has a price tag some 33% less than what you usually pay here for this kind of configuration:
Core i7 2630QM
6GB DDR3 (don't know frequencies and stuff)
Radeon 6770M
1TB 5400rpm
Other goodies, such as Blu-Ray reader, 2 USB3.0...
I've read this one review in French (the only one I could find), they say they're quite pleased:
hp Pavilion dv6-6090ef : Le test du Labo de 01net.com
They say the screen is kind of dim, the laptop is a bit noisy and hot (on the inside), although the exterior is just warm and the cooling seems to do its job well. On the good side, really powerful and with 2.5 hours battery life on movies.
Thing is, last time I bought a laptop I did a few good months of research, reading owners lounges etc. Now I don't think I'm going to have time for that.
Questions:
1. Does it really have the kind of problems that I described earlier?
2. Is HP reliable as a brand?
3. Any other issues that I should be aware of?
I appreciate any help you can give me.

a good detailed review:
Review HP Pavilion dv6-6008eg Notebook - Notebookcheck.net Reviews
otherwise, I have a similar laptop
1. The screen quality is average at best. (it depend on installed model, mine is CMO which is similar to above review).
2. Hp reliability is not great but has great value/cost.
3. There is no major issue, beside some keyboard flex, average screen, and high temp. during full load (can be resolved using Hp CoolSense software).
I hope this is helpful and if u have any other question, feel free to post. -
Much appreciated.
Other stuff: crapware? BSoD's? Any kind of critical or spontaneous failures that may happen or have happened to similar models?
The review was thorough, as I had expected from notebookcheck. They were a bit concerned about build quality. Is that really an issue? Or were they just being picky? Because at a laptop that good-looking and powerful, one has the tendency to look more at the downsides, you know.
Thanks again. -
build quality as I said is good (not great), there are some gabs, keyboard flex, mine came with fan problem (always run at full blast, and only resolved by complete system dissemble in order to fix loose fan connection) but i think it is rare and not common issue.
No other issue what so ever, GPU switching is great and trouble free. but since u have the same HDD. (1 TB.) which i think is Toshiba MK1059GSM, mine develop some reallocated sector count after few weeks of use, but again this may be an isolated problem.
What do you know about the dv6-6090ef?
