    SM Bus controller is something to do with the Intel Chipset, download this http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/cs-013541.htm for your chipset, it may fix them all.

    If you cannot work it out, go into properties > Details and then choose 'Hardware IDs' from the list

    you need intel chipset drivers for those. go to hp.com and download+install these two drivers in that order. They will require multiple restarts.
    1. Intel Chipset Installation Utility for ICH9 for Microsoft Windows Vista
    2. Intel ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller Driver

    Sometimes Vista has trouble locating the correct driver even if it is there. When searching for a driver to install try browsing for the driver manually and point to c:\windows\system32. I had to do this once for an Unknown device problem.
