    Before I bought my DV6z laptop, I researched about this feature called coolsense. What I heard is that you could adjust your fan settings to cool, optimum performance and quiet mode. I looked everywhere but I cant seem to find that window that opens that up. All I can do is toggle it off and on.

    Also, what is a good temperature monitoring software like speedfan?

    Start->search programs[coolsense]
    (Should be in the HP folder: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HP Support Framework\Resources\HPThermalAssistant\HPThermalAssistant.exe" /p 1)
    do'h!

    Coolsense 2.1 only have On and Off option unlike 2.0.

    I use Open Hardware Monitor/HwinFo64/ThrottleStop/MSI Afterburner/GPU Caps Viewer/Battery Care to monitor temperatures.

    Did you guys actually read his post? He said he can't find the Coolsense window that have Coolest, Optimize and Quiet option. All he have is On and Off.

    Latest Coolsense only have On and Off option... no more Coolest, Optimize and Quiet. On and Off is all you need actually.

    I like using 2.0 because of the auto option. This way I don't have to manually turn it on/off.

    2.1 does not have the auto option, I know 2.0 does but I'm not sure if any previous versions have it before 2.0.

    =/ I kinda want that customization fan speed. . . So I guess Coolsense in 2.1 only has a toggle of something like turbo cooling and default fan speed? I don't quite understand the description of it. I'm on a HP netbook atm but anyway, it says something about decreasing the "surface temperature" for comfort when its turned on. Does that mean the temps on the palm rest and keyboard decreases?

    you need to understand their wording.
    By optimum performance , they are saying they wont throttle your computer, not pushing the fan faster.
