I bought a HP ENVY dv7-720tx laptop PC in Hong Kong through a local shop called Broadway on 1st of April, I only used this laptop PC for three weeks, then it failed to work, I talked to this local shop for a brand new replacement, they told me to go to HP service center in Hong Kong for checking, if this was really a hardware problem, they would make the brand new replacement or let me choose another brand of laptop PC with similar price, I did go to HP service center and get the laptop PC fixed, I also got the confirmation that there was motherboard hardware issue, I went to the local shop to see if I could get a brand new replacement, the guy from the shop agreed that this could be done, I left the shop and waiting for them to finish installing the Windows 8 OS. However, after ten minutes, I received a phone call from the shop telling me that the HP laptop PC that I bought had a scratch on it, so they refused to give me a brand new replacement, I said this was nonsense. Then, the sales supervisor came out and said I should go to HP service center for checking only, I should not get the laptop PC fixed, otherwise, this laptop PC could not be returned to HP. Then I went to Hong Kong consumer council to launch a complaint against this malpractice. Later on, HP Hong Kong called me up and told me that a brand new replacement was impossible, since on the receipt, it states that a brand new replacement is only valid if the product fails within ten days, I absolutely find this nonsense, from my point of view, this is a serious quality issue and I will not trust and use a laptop PC which only works for three weeks (Hey, this is a brand new HP laptop PC), I am not sure I can get a brand new replacement of this laptop PC or not, but I just want to know why HP and the local shop (Broadway) act like this, I am so disappointed the way I was treated (I thought HP was a great company and Broadway was a good local shop for electronic products).

Later on, I post the complaint through HP web site called “product experience”, and then I received a call from HP Hong Kong offering me a discount on the laptop service contract, he did mention this kind of failure was very common. I am really surprised, it seems that the laptop breaks down within twenty days is well accepted. I am now seeking legal advice to see how I can get my money back. Otherwise, I would consider donating this laptop to Charity organization for the benefits of children PC education.
