it's white and comes with a core 2 duo standard.

Its white on top.. black bottom and silver keyboard. I don't like it. I think the regular black top/bottom with black keyboard with silver touchpad etc.. looks nicer. I would not pay more for a paint job. Apple does the same.. they charge like 200 more for a black one.. white comes as standard. HP just the opposite.. they charge for white.. black standard. Its a very easy way for manufacturers to make a easy buck. Had they made the HP white on bottom as well and keep the black keyboard I think it would have been more attractive.

It's white influx design (I like it
), santa rosa, core 2 duo, webcam & finger print reader are default, the silver keyboard feels lot better than a regular dv6000/dv6500 series (I have used both). I think the keyboard is metallic (?) & has a solid feel to it.
This is all the difference I can see in mine.....

I disagree with the keyboard statement. The SE just has a white painted keyboard, same feeling as the regular 6500. The HP with the nice keyboard is the 2500 series Verve, with a special keyboard that's much softer and doesn't click.

when i bought my dv6500t se it was actually much cheaper with the same configuration than a regular dv6500t. so IS NOT ALWAYS $400 more. the price are compareable to each other. has for me, I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO A BLACK VERSION. first the white imprint finish is much more atractives, the HP special edition logo is reflected chrome mirror like and it does says "special edition" in chrome aswell. everytime i have my black and white version on my desk they always wanted to see the white version and how nice it looks, nobody paid attention to the black. The white is not fingerprint magnet, u have to really look at it from the side to notice that it actually have fingerprints. black, is annoying and very noticeable with dust and fingerprint all over. the interior is silver white, with a "special edition" imprint label in the touch mouse. the keyboard has the same glossy look and feel, is so smooth compare to the black version, when i type it feel like it is much smoother because my finger are sliding around the keys, i guess is the glossy liquid hp sprayed on it.. last, u have to count, that having a special edition machine will alwayss have a better and higher resell value than the regular version with the same config.
Just like many people here, i judge the notebook from pics alone. i did not liked it. but the price was right, like i mention before it was actually cheaper with coupon than a regular dv6500t. when i received it, i was shock, is much more actrative than the picture (including teh one from the review. -
there is a $100 premium for the SE over a regular 6500 configured exactly the same.
"Pretty white" isn't worth $100 to me.
What is special about the hp dv6500t special edition?
