I've had my dv5z for a couple of weeks now and it's been plugged in pretty much the whole time. Since this doesn't seem to be good for lithium ion batteries, I removed mine (standard 6-cell) and packed it away.

There was a sticker on the battery that referred me to the manual, but I couldn't find anything about batteries in the documentation that came with the computer.

Going online I found two different suggestions from HP about how to store their notebook batteries.

    1) Store batteries fully charged.

    and

    2) Store batteries with a 30%-50% charge.

I ran the battery down to 40% and put it away. But now I'm wondering if I did the right thing?

40% charge and leave it in a cool dark place...
