    Hey y'all.

    I just bought myself a new computer, a HP Compaq NX7400 but I didn't get a power-cable/adapter when I bought it.

The thing is, I don't have a clue about what sort of adapter/socket-thingy I need to buy to pump some power in it.
I bought a universal notebook adapter a couple of go but the sockets that came with it didn't match so I had to return it.
And 2 days ago I bought an adapter from HP's spare-parts website and I got it today and it doesn't fit?!

What's the problem with this little stupid hole?

Do any of you know what kind of socket I need and how am I supposed to get ahold of it?

    This is getting really annoying...

    Thanks in advance!

    Fred

It's weird that the HP cable/adapter didn't work since this "weird little hole" seems to be used on all recent HP/compaq laptops. My nc8230 has the same power outlet. The only thing I see is that regular HP models may not use this particular type of outlet so the adapter wasn't the right one or you may have bought an adapter for older models.
