Every time I clean install Vista Ultimate x86 it automatically installs 7.15.10.9719 for the Go 7200. Those seem to be fine but the drivers on HP's web site, 7.15.10.9729A almost always fails on reboot. The screen just goes black! It then takes about 5 minutes for the driver to finally display anything, if at all. I usually have to manually power off my laptop and restart.

Anyone else see this? This is nonsense!

    Richard, try going here: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=13185

Click on Driver at the top, extract it to a folder, then download the Modded Inf at the top and replace it with the one in the extracted folder.

These are the latest nvidia drivers, modded to work on Geforce Go video cards.

    Good luck.

I really regret updating to Vista most of the drivers do not work. It also took me 3 weeks to get my wireless working

Thanks iilmatic8, I'll give these a try. Normally I wouldn't mess with modded drivers but HPs drivers thus far leave much to be desired.

Never forget about the system restore!

I too messed with the video drivers and broke that little icon (though it still worked) and my AIM -_-

Shouldn't HP release something better by now? I keep hearing that none of these video cards are taking full potential of its power as they are being limited by the poor drivers.

I have used the latest Nvidia drivers from LaptopVideo2Go since I got my notebook with zero problems. They are much better then waiting for HP to ever release a new set.

So do you recommend these drivers for my set up (see below)? Currently I have the latest ones from HP, but I do have graphics performance issues which I am sure are attributed to the lame graphics card, but maybe it is the drivers?

I really love my laptop due to its size and relative power, but graphics card does limit what(if any) games I can install on this computer. Maybe that is a good thing, as this is for work/school not games... ;-)

Any of the 84xx series driver from LaptopVideo2Go would work just fine for you.

The 84XX series drivers are older than the ones available from HP. I think the ones available from HP are 94XX. Still think that updating to the 84XX is a better option than leaving it alone or updating to the 101xx they currently have on that website?/

HP does not make graphics card drivers. It just repackages the nVidia drivers. nVidia's drivers in general aren't up to par on Vista, so HP isn't really to blame here.

I would recomend sticking with the 97.XX or 98.XX drivers. Windows Update should have the 98.XX drivers available. The 100.XX+ drivers are still in beta stage and are not stable from my experience. I would only try those if you are having stability issues with the current drivers.

The 84.XX drivers are for Windows XP. For Vista stick with 97.XX or higher.

Did you mean to say 101.XX+? The 100.65 drivers are WHQL release quality and available (unmodded) from nvidia's web site. I've been using these on my desktop computer since release and they are plenty stable.

If I'm not mistaken, 100.65 is x64 not x86. So as far as 32-bit vista is concerned, no 100.XX WHQLed nVidia drivers are available.

Edit: the latest WHQLed x86 nVidia drivers that I can find seems to be the 98.15 version on Windows Update. Other than that, I briefly tried out th 100.40 version with the modded inf file from laptopvideo2go.com and that seemed to work just fine.

Edit2: Has anyone else been get a sound like when you plug in a new USB hardware when they close the lid? It doesn't seem to be the graphics driver. It appears that everytime the screen turns off when closed the computer detects it as unplugging the plug n play monitor. Same thing for opening the lid.

Well, that's a hard one. According to nVidia, each driver has roughly same number lines of codes as NT4.0.

Given that, nVidia still has a ton of refactoring to do on their codes... guess too much crap in their program, and they certain need to get their acts together to ship out something that's acceptable.

All the drivers that HP provided worked in my laptop. Just have to download them and extract. Vista will also automatically find the best drivers.

Well, the drivers work yes... but they have no adjustment features except crapy 3d and multiple monitors.
If yours does Kanehi, please post how you went about this.
    Thanks.
