that little usb fan that fits on the vent is actually a pretty cool idea, especially if you pair it with a real cooler.

The fan actually extracts heat from the inside, keeping the laptop cooler.
I've monitored my temps with and without it really helps get the heat out much faster than the internal fan. Since this one spins continuously, while the internal fan would spin depending on BIOS configuration.

Wait, so there's laptop coolers too? I like that USB thingy. :D Imo the cooling mats pretty much defeat the purpose of a portable computer. I have never used one, and never will. I have two methods of cooling my notebook:

    1. Removing the battery when i am running off mains power. If you didn't know it is harmful for the battery to be kept at 100% all the time (4 times worse than normal charge/discharge cycles), also it heats up a lot when charging. Also when i keep the laptop on my bed i place the battery under the left side of the laptop so the cooling vents are lifted up. It helps a lot in getting rid of the heat that would've otherwise be stuck inside, making the fan work a lot harder (-100 points for cooler design, HP!!!).

    2. Undervolting. ;)

Just curious how this hooks up to a laptop? It looks like the expansion port that I hook up my quickdock. Is this right?

OK, a closer look at the picture shows the clips that look like they attatch to the grill of the exhaust outlet. Mine are actually on the back which would be good and out of the way!
