    Thinking about buying one, but the SSD upgrade is 310$ and it would be more cost effective to just go out and buy one and put it in myself. But I don't want to void my warranty, should I just go with the SSD upgrade?

    for windows? Yeah. You can also probably make the recovery disks and then do a minimum image recovery.

    Sadly, no. BUT you can buy a caddy that fits in the optical bay and holds a hard drive or SSD.

    Ah, I might! Depends if I start using Blu-ray or not. Part of the reason why I want a laptop is to watch Blu-ray movies on :D

    The dv7's have dual hard drive bays if you were interested in a larger screen also.

    just get the 1080p screen on whichever one you get especially if you're going to watch blue rays ;P
