I had my Dv6 for about a month. I only deleted the trials software's and the games for now. But for the HP programs, I am not sure what to uninstall. I know there are some things on there that I shouldn't uninstall.

The best way to get rid of bloatware is to re-install fresh windows copy, not the one which is provided with the laptop. If you really like to uninstall HP software, I would recommend you to leave these ones:
    HP CoolSense
    HP Support Assistant
HP SimplePass (if you have fingerprint)
    HP ProtectSmart HDP
HP Quick launch (if u use quick launch buttons)
HP Power Manager Utility (if you really need to save battery life)

P.S. I'm not sure for your model, I've posted for DV6t

After fresh isntall, only HP software I have:

    HP OSD (for fn buttons)
    HP 3D drive protect
The fingerprint reader driver but no simplepass as I don't use it.

It depends if you need the others, but the machine will function w/o them.

I can't remember what I deleted exactly but it was some of the HP stuff and the next time I started the computer it went to a black screen with a "BIOS Application Error 501" message. I just did a full recovery and didn't delete any of the HP stuff. Haven't had the problem since.
