Ok, so here is my situation. I've just about had it with my piece of tx1309au. Around two months ago it succumbed to the nVidia thingy, the second time it's done so in a year. Since the warranty's expired, I had to take it to the service center, and the price they quoted for it was just atrocious-- around $700. Luckily I found a place near where I lived that coulf fix the problem for a tiny fraction of the cost.

Fast forward 2 weeks later and it's pretty much back to square one.

I just want to be pragmatic, so I'm thinking of selling the damn thing. I'm a student and money just doesn't come in trees for me. I bought the thing for $1800 in Oct. 2007 and in less than two years it's pretty much all over for it. Realistically, who would buy something that has such a low value for money? HP owners, can anyone advice me what possible steps to take next? All the people I know who have owned or do own a tx series laptop pretty much share the same opinion as I do. I'd really appreciate your inputs.

Kill it with fire? Or you can give it to me :D .

You could try to sell it for parts and buy a new laptop....just do not go Dell...

The LCD screen and battery are worth a lot!

This video can give an idea to fix it.

I prefer using a heat gun and do 4 steps of reflow process as in this video

After it recovered, please make sure use it always with cooling pad.

    Good luck
