    Here are the specs:
HP Pavilion dv9700t customizable Notebook PC
    • Windows Vista Home Premium w/ SP1 (32-bit)
    • Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5550 (1.83Ghz)
    • 17.0" diagonal WXGA+ High-Definition HP Brightview Widscreen Display (1440 x 900)
    • 3GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • 512MB Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS
    • HP Imprint Finish(Radiance) + Webcam + Microphone
    • Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection
    • 240GB 7200RPM SATA Dual Hard Drive (120GB x 2)
    • LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
    • 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

    Rate 1-10, 1 being terrible and 10 being awesome(not likely I'm sure)
I plan on just using it for school work, storing pictures, surfing the internet, playing Angels Online, using Photoshop. People have already told me that my processor might make running Photshop slow, but I have a AMD 2.17Ghz on my desktop and it still runs slow. I have had people tell me that it shouldn't make too much of a difference since I have 3GB RAM, a 7200RPM HD, and 512 mb graphics card. What do you all think?

I would say an 8.5 out of 10. Laptops with higher end processors and GPUS like 8700M GTs or 8800GTXs are around the late 9s pretty much... nice setup...

I give it a 8/10 considering you could have gotten a faster cpu. The gpu is not a big issue for your intended use.

8 from me as well. I believe that the CPU might prove as the bottle neck as the GPU seems pretty solid.

It is easy to add and cheaper to buy extra RAM and bigger (faster) HDD after your purchase (check out NewEgg).
Put your money into the fastest processor you can afford since upgrading that component is difficult if not impossible. You might also want to look at upgrading to the higher res LCD.
